Q: What is the Optimist Club and what do you do?
A: The motto of all Optimist Clubs is "Friend Of Youth." Optimist Clubs are civic organizations   
      located in communities of all sizes and in many countries. Optimist Clubs are affiliated with
      Optimist International which is headquartered in St. Louis.

      Through fundraising events and volunteering time the Optimist Club donates money and 
      humanpower in an attempt to reach the youth of our community to influence them in positive
      ways. We donate to charitable and community organizations, individual youths and causes,
      and sponsor sports, oratorical and essay competitions for boys and girls of various ages. This
      is done to help them grow as individuals, give them a sense of self-respect, to make them feel
      a part of the community and to just have fun.


Q: What is the Optimist Foundation?
A: The Optimist Foundation is a charitable 501-3C foundation, separate from the Optimist Club,
      which donates money and academic scholarships to deserving youth in our area. In 2004 the
      Optimist Foundation awarded approximately $10,000. in academic scholarships to
      Jeffersonville High School, Providence High School and Indiana University Southeast
      students. The Optimist Foundation is the recipient of several endowments from individual and
      group donors throughout the year.

Q: Where is the Jeffersonville Evening Optimist Club?
A: The Jeffersonville Evening Optimist Club is located at 61 Louise Street in Jeffersonville,
      Indiana. A map of our club location can be accessed on the CONTACT US page.



Q: When does the club meet?
A: The Evening Optimist Club meets first and third Tuesday nights each month. Social time is from 6:00 p.m. to
      7:00 p.m.. Hellos and the meal begin at 7:00 p.m.. The speaker begins at approximately 7:45
      p.m. Meetings usually last until 8:30 p.m. or so.
